I am currently providing clients with teletherapy through Doxy.me, a HIPAA compliant provider.  For clients who require face-to-face office sessions I have limited availability on Mondays and Tuesdays with COVID-19 protocols in place.  Please reach out to me should you wish to learn more.

I am a strength-based therapist and work with children, teens, and adults at all stages of life.  My philosophy has led me to specialize in grief and bereavement counseling; I understand the overwhelming pain that can accompany major loss and together we can take steps to alleviate the debilitating effects of complicated grief.  I also strive to provide healing from many types of trauma including sexual and emotional abuse and neglect, and
from an upbringing where mental illness or substance abuse was present.  Often, through counseling, clients find that their current anxiety is masking wounds that have never been healed.  Whether struggling with loss, difficult life transitions or repeating relationship patterns based on low self-esteem, I can help.

Adults...
My adult clients set the goals while I provide the structure and collaboration to seek a path forward.   I choose complementary interventions that will be most empowering for each client, drawing from Adlerian, narrative, sand-tray, art, DBT, depth, and mind-body practices.   Most of my clients find success in taking home assignments to provide continuity between sessions.

Working with kids...
In play therapy, children find the freedom to express their emotions and work through their fears through imaginative play using toys, sandplay, games and art.
Kids struggle with emotions around life situations like divorce, death, bullying, illnesses and feelings of failure.  Because they don't yet know appropriate ways to express their emotional turmoil, they act out, become anxious, or bury their feelings.  Play therapy with a trusted adult is one avenue to help them work though their feelings safely.

For teens...
Often, teens are looking to find a nonjudgmental person to talk to who can help them make sense of their disequilibrium.  Anxiety and depression are not uncommon during the teenage years.  Finding a therapist who can listen and help them weigh their choices and behaviors
can provide relief for the whole family.

My quiet, private office is in northwest Lakewood a short drive from 6th Avenue and I-70 Heartfelt Healing, LLC, 2201 Kipling Street, Ste. 204, Lakewood, CO  80215.   The Woodman Building is on the west side of Kipling and can be spotted by the large American flag posted in the parking lot.  My office is on the second floor up the stairs and to the left.

Seeing a need for an easy-to-read and comprehensive resource for caregivers, I recently authored a book, Take My Hand: The Caregiver's Journey which is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble's website and can be ordered at local booksellers. (www.TakeMyHandJourney.com)

I earned my Master's degree in Counseling from Regis University and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado (LPC .0012480) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). With years of experience in hospice work, I also have advanced training in grief, loss, trauma, play therapy and healing from childhood abuse.  For those suffering from trauma, I offer EMDR therapy.  I  maintain memberships in the American Counseling Association, the Colorado Counseling Association, Colorado Collaborative for Grieving Youth, Chi Sigma Iota and serve on the board of the Grief Networking Alliance.
